1- There are many different varieties of genres
Anime/Mangas have hundreds of different genres, so that people who have different interests can find the type of genre they enjoy, and watch/read an anime/manga in that genre.
2- Anime/Manga comes in different age ranges
If you're someone who likes to watch things that fit your age, anime/manga comes in all different age ranges and each anime/manga in an age range has stuff that fits for that age.
3- Anime/manga has real life situations
Anime/Manga brings characters and real life situations that you can relate to, so then it makes you feel like you're not alone in the world and that others are also facing troubles like you do. It also makes you feel as if you connect with the character or situation.
4- Anime/Manga isn't like other animations/shows/books
Anime/manga is a unique form of animation/storyline that's not like other animations/shows/books. The plot is not a hero vs villain short battle and the hero wins and everyone survives. It brings wars that can last episodes/chapters/books in extremely deep detail and not everyone lives, many important characters die and in some even the main character(s) die. It also doesn't bring characters that face trouble or tough times and then just forgets about the past and/or forgives the person that did everything to them. In anime the character seeks revenge and makes sure the person gets what they deserve, and even after lessons, going to jail, and getting punishment the character still (most Anime/manga is a unique form of animation/storyline that's not like other animations/shows/books.
